Vice-President of the Commonwealth Chess Association and Commonwealth Chess Master
A retired art teacher and former director of the London Chess Centre, he has tutored various gifted children, two of whom are now grandmasters. The first of these became the youngest chess master in history by winning the 1992 World U-10 Boys’ title at the age of eight.
Julian is a published author and co-author, journalist and sometime reporter for The Times, the chess column of which he proofreads.
